Cape Sounio

Cape Sounion is a stunning part of the Attica region, and is located approximately 70km from Athens at the southern tip of the Athenian Riviera.

The highlight of a visit to Sounio is the wonderful Temple of Poseidon, which is build on the top of a 60 meter high cliff, right next to the sea. The temple is extremely well preserved considering it’s close proximity to the sea and the fact it is more than 2000 years old.

This archaeological site is one that is visited by many visitors to Athens, though it’s distance makes it a little difficult for some people to reach. There is a bus service that connects the city with Cape Sounion, but it isn’t the most comfortable ride.
